Accomplished 21-year-old show jumping talent Lucy Deslauriers was just named to the short list to represent the USA at the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo. Shortly after being selected as one of ten riders on the list, Lucy sat down to speak with Practical Horseman about her journey as an equestrian from her early riding days at a summer camp on Long Island to how she feels about being selected to the Olympic short list. Lucy dives into the special bond she has with her partner, Hester, who she earned team bronze with at the 2019 Pan-American Games. She touches on her love of training young horses and shares about some of the up-and-coming mounts she’s being working with. Lucy also gives her thoughts about being selected to the Olympic short list and what she imagines Tokyo will be like if she’s given the opportunity to be on the team.
