January 24, 2018 – Guadalajara, Jalisco, MX – The first day of competition at the Triple Copa Scappino CSI4*-W at the beautiful Guadalajara Country Club offered two classes, the Jalisco Cup, 1.30m and The FEM Cup, 1.40m. FEI Course Designer Guilherme Jorge built a power-and-speed track for the 107 competitors in The Jalisco Cup that led to thirty-six double clear rounds. The top five competitors stopped the clock within a second of one another, but the fastest was Juan Ignacio Pacheco aboard his 10-year-old black mare, Botija la Campana, who stopped the clock in 25.84 seconds.
Thirty-nine horse-rider combinations competed in the FEM Cup, 1.40m, this afternoon. Of the twelve combinations that rode double clear rounds, Jorge Canedo Vincent and Paul Schockemohle’s Nintara, a 12-year-old Oldenberg mare, were the quickest by over two full seconds, stopping the clock at 27.24s.
The action continues tomorrow morning with the Mexico Ecuestre Cup, 1.35m, followed by the Loteria Nacional, 1.40m. The afternoon will bring the Tequila Reserva de la Familia Cup Longines FEI World Cup Qualifier, which will determine the class list for Saturday’s Longines FEI World Cup Jumping North American League event.
