January 19, 2017 – International sport will shine next week during Eq Marketing’s Longines FEI North American League Event known as Triple Copa Scappino and presented by Audi. Coming to the second largest city in Mexico, Guadalajara in the state of Jalisco, competitors of all ages and levels will be vying for top prizes and valuable points at the beautiful Guadalajara Country Club. Highlights include the Longines FEI North American League World Cup™ Jumping event as well as the FEI Children’s International Classics Final.
The CSI****-W competition offers close to $300,000 in overall prize money over multiple days including the $35,000 Longines FEI World Cup™ qualifying class on Thursday, January 26th, that will determine the start list for the highlight class on Saturday, January 28th, the $100,000 Longines FEI World Cup™ Jumping Guadalajara. Internationally-acclaimed course designer Olaf Petersen, Jr. (GER) will put riders to the test over challenging tracks of up to 1.60m. Other classes include the Welcome Cup, the Farewell Cup, and the Guadalajara Country Club Classic.
As the final event of a competitive season, the Children’s International Classics, is an opportunity for youth to go for the gold. Thirty-two Gold Tour qualifiers, comprised of some of the top twelve to fourteen year olds from around the world, will meet in Guadalajara to compete on borrowed horses. Sixteen of the thirty-two will represent the host country of Mexico, and the other sixteen will be international competitors. The host riders will each provide two horses, which will then be assigned via a draw. The action will commence with two training sessions and a warm-up, then riders will participate in two qualifying rounds that will determine the order of the classic rounds on Saturday. An exciting opportunity for these young competitors. The Final Competition will include the top sixteen, and all participants will restart with zero points.
The horse show proudly embraces the support of numerous internationally acclaimed sponsors that infuse the event with quality and class. Longines, the Official Timekeeper and Official Watch of the FEI, generously lends its supports as the title sponsor. The Swiss-made watch manufacturer brings its signature elegance and its essential data-handling services to the sport, making the event a glamorous affair both onsite and online. Italian luxury fashion house Scappino, founded in 1914, is known as one of the top fine silk producers in the world and offers a variety of merchandise including ties, shoes, jewellry fragrances and sunglasses, among other accessories. German-based automobile manufacturer Audi provides sleek and luxurious products to customers all over the globe. Also lending continual support to Guadalajara’s FEI show jumping event is Grupo Financiero Banorte, a prominent Mexican banking and financial services holding company. Aerolíneas Ejecutivas is an executive travel operator providing clients with charter, VIP, and air taxi services. Hand selected from the Cuervo® family’s private collection, Reserva de la Familia is the world’s first extra-añejo tequila, aged in French and American oak barrels for at least three years. And finally, as an institution of the Mexican government, Conade seeks to incorporate physical, recreational and sports activities into the population in an effort to strengthen social and economic development.
Competition kicks off at the Guadalajara Country Club on Wednesday, January 25th at 10:30am with the $7,500 Grand Opening Cup. It will close out on Sunday, January 29th with the $35,000 Guadalajara Country Club Classic.
