Kentucky Three-Day Title Returns to America After 15 Years

The Kentucky crowd cheers as Tamie Smith and Mai Baum made history at the 2023 Land Rover Kentucky Three-Day Event.

The Kentucky crowd was screaming. Teammates were hugging. Tears were flowing. Champagne was popping. Tamie Smith and Mai Baum, owned by A Ahearn, ended a 15 year wait for an American to win the Land Rover Kentucky Three-Day Event CCI5*. And, Smith is the first U.S. woman to be champion since 2005. In short, Smith made history at the 2023 event.

She and “Lexus” delivered a double clear show jumping round to claim the title on their dressage score of 24.2. Tom McEwen and JL Dublin earned second place honors for Great Britain. The duo finished on their dressage score as well for a total of 27.8. Rounding out the top three was Liz Halliday-Sharp aboard five-star first-timer Miks Master C. They also left all the jumps up and tripped the timers under the time allowed to close out the week on a score of 28.5.

Here’s an exciting look at the historic final day of the 2023 Land Rover Kentucky Three-Day Event. We hope you enjoy them as much as we did.
