Show Jumpers Will Try Their Luck in Vegas

The Longines FEI Jumping World Cup™ Las Vegas is 2019’s final North American League qualifier for the Longines FEI Jumping World Cup™ Final and riders will be competing for critical points

A star-studded list of horses and riders are heading to the South Point Arena & Equestrian Center to try their luck in the Longines FEI Jumping World Cup™ Las Vegas at the Las Vegas National Horse Show CSI3*-W, November 11–17, 2019.

Riders at the top of the North American League rankings will be in Sin City, including last week’s winner of the Longines FEI Jumping World Cup™ Thermal, Adrienne Sternlicht, as well as Ashlee Bond, who won the $100,000 Longines FEI Jumping World Cup™ Del Mar less than a month ago and Karl Cook, who clinched the $100,000 Longines FEI Jumping World Cup™ Sacramento. Cook is at the top of the Longines FEI Jumping World Cup™ North American League – West Sub League Standings with 49 points, Bond is currently ranked second with 39 points and Sternlicht is currently ranked seventh in the Longines FEI Jumping World Cup™ North American League – East Sub League Standings with 26 points.

Other notable West Coast sub league-ranked riders include Keri Potter (3rd), Kelli Cruciotti (4th), Jenni McAllister (5th), Zazou Hoffman (9th), Will Simpson (11th) and Richard Spooner (16th). Several other East Coast league riders will be hoping to capture valuable points, including Ireland’s Conor Swail who is currently 6th with 27 points. Jennifer Gates, Adam Prudent and Canadian Erynn Ballard are all inside the top 20 and knocking at the door.

The $100,000 Longines FEI Jumping World Cup™ Las Vegas will take place in the evening on Saturday, November 16. It will be the final North American League qualifier for 2019. Two more qualifiers will take place in Mexico early next year, as will the last two qualifiers for the East Coast (Wellington and Ocala). This means riders only have a few events left to earn valuable points to qualify to compete in the Longines FEI Jumping World Cup™ Final in Las Vegas, April 15–19, 2020. 

The other FEI Jumping highlights at the Las Vegas National Horse Show include the $7,500 FEI 1.45m Blenheim Welcome Jumper Classic (Wednesday) the $36,000 FEI 1.50m Las Vegas National Welcome Jumper Speed Classic (Thursday) and the $36,000 FEI 1.45m Las Vegas National Winning Round Jumper Classic (Saturday).

About the North American League

The Longines FEI Jumping World Cup™ North American League, now in its fifth year, consists of 14 venues in three countries – the United States, Mexico and Canada. Each venue hosts qualifiers to determine the North American riders who will compete at the Longines FEI Jumping World Cup™ Final (April 15-19) in Las Vegas, Nevada. The NAL, which offers $2.4 million in prize money, is one of 16 leagues that form the global FEI Jumping World Cup™ series, which has been in existence since 1978.
