A look at CCI5*-L cross-country competition at the 2022 Maryland 5 Star at Fair Hill.

Lack of five-star experience didn’t stop Tim Price’s (NZL) Coup de Cœur Dudevin from dominating the field on cross-country day at the 2022 MARS Maryland 5 Star at Fair Hill presented by Brown Advisory. “Joker” tackled the course like he had done it a million times before, boosting the he and his rider to first place on their overnight score of 27.4.

Tamie Smith (USA) and her five-star rookie, Danito, also moved up the ranks from sixth to second following a stellar first outing for the 13-year-old Hanoverian gelding. The pair finished on their dressage score of 29.4.

Great Britain’s Oliver Townend and As Is jumped from tenth place to third place with a score of 29.9. As Is, another first time five-star horse, also maneuvered a clear round under the time allowed.

The Competition Continues

Competition resumes Sunday, October 16, at 2:00 p.m. EST with show jumping in the Main Arena at the Fair Hill Special Event Zone.
