Ride for the Cure Virginia

Over the weekend I participated in Ride for the Cure Virginia. Hundreds of riders, including some friends from my stables who have lost loved ones to breast cancer, rode together to raise awareness about breast cancer and money to support the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation. The event took place at Fox Chase Farm in Middleburg.

After the ride, I was able to interview Dr. Colette Magnant, a prominent breast surgeon, Director of the Sullivan Center’s Breast Cancer Program at Sibley Memorial Hospital in Washington, DC and Associate Professor of Surgery and Director of Trauma Services at Georgetown University Medical Center. Dr. Magnant shed light on the importance of events like Ride for the Cure and how horses can help people with breast cancer.

I have put together this short video to share the event with those who were not able to attend and perhaps inspire other equestrians to ride in local events like this one. It not only helps spread awareness, but is a lot of fun.
