Nicholson Nails Down the Win at Red Hills International CCI4*-S

Lauren Nicholson and Landmark’s Monte Carlo claimed victory at the 2022 Red Hills International CCI4*-S at the conclusion of stadium jumping.

TALLAHASSEE, Fla.—Lauren Nicholson and Landmark’s Monte Carlo (42.1), the US-bred Irish Sport Horse gelding bred and owned by Ms. Jaqueline Mars have won the CCI4-S Level at Red Hills International Horse Trials. Nicholson moved up from second place after a strong performance in stadium jumping and with Will Coleman withdrawing his horse “Off the Record” that was in first place after two-days of competition.

Landmark’s Monte Carlo won despite hitting the last rail. Nicholson has been coming to Red Hills for more than a decade because she says she enjoys the many cheering spectators and the quality of the event. She last won Red Hills Horse Trials in 2015 on Czechmate.

Coming in second place was Mia Farley on “BGS Firecracker,” a 2010 Irish Sport Mare (43.0), followed by Joe Meyer on Buccaneer (45.5).

The last day of the 3-day competition started out at a chilly 30 degrees but by noon the sun was shining and the temperature had risen to 61 degrees making it a perfect day for stadium jumping. Spectators lined the arena cheering and clapping for riders and horses through the day of competition.
