Winter-White Horse
The Arctic White Shampoo from Espree is free of harsh chemicals and uses natural cleansers with a coconut base to enhance dull coats. While the shampoo is a whitener, its unique optical brightening formula will refresh coats of all colors. Tough dirt, oil accumulation and difficult stains will wash away without the need for bleach or other strong substances. The shampoo can be used full strength or diluted and works best when massaged into the horse’s coat; $14; www.espree.com.

Keep Toes Cozy and Dry

Noble Outfitters’ Over the Calf Printed Merino Wool Peddies combine the style of their traditional socks with merino wool to keep feet warm and dry. Merino wool has natural moisture-wicking properties that move dampness away from the skin. The padded foot also includes opti-dry yarns to accelerate the natural wicking properties of the wool. This sock is padded through the ankle to prevent any pinching from shoes, but also includes an ultra thin calf for a snug fit. One size fits all; $16.95; www.nobleoutfitters.com.

Sandy’s Pick: A Faster Alternative to Currying
I first tried HandsOn Gloves in late summer and was thrilled with how they helped shed out my horse’s fine summer hair and lift dirt from his coat. The pair of gloves have latex-free scrubbing nodules on the fingers and palms constructed of surgical-grade nitrile, an organic compound, that makes them hypoallergenic and chemical- and mildew-resistant. Velcro closures around the wrists ensure a secure fit. Using the two gloves instead of just one currycomb speeds up grooming time while still doing a thorough job, and I can easily get around the contours of my horse’s legs and face. They also can be used as a sponge-alternative when bathing your horse, which automatically cleans them, or you can machine-wash and hang them to dry. Sold in pairs; black, green; sizes small to extra-large and junior (children); $25; www.handsongloves.com.

Gifts for $50–$100:
