The MARS Maryland 5 Star CCI5* First Horse Inspection kicked off the competition Wednesday afternoon. Riders presented 26 horses at the inspection and the ground jury passed them all. Campground, with rider Erin Kanara, was held after his initial jog but passed on second presentation.
The competition, presented by Brown Advisory, is October 19-22, 2023 in Cecil County, Maryland. In addition to the CCI5*, the competition includes the CCI3*-L, which serves as the U.S. Equestrian Federation National Championship. There also is the Dutta Corp. U.S. Eventing Association’s Young Event Horse Championships for 4- and 5-years olds presented by Dubarry of Ireland.
The CCI3*-L dressage gets underway at 9 a.m. Thursday (Oct. 19). The CCI5* dressage starts at 2 p.m. There will be a second day of dressage for both groups on Friday, cross country on Saturday and stadium jumping on Sunday.
